Tailwaggers starts tonight! I am so excited for this!! I am entering Dingo is beginner obedience since last year she didn't do well, along with beginner agility since she has never done this before. Also, Chipmunk is being entered in Advanced agility, advanced obedience off-leash, rally, and advanced showmanship. You can kind-of tell who the smarter dog is. Here is a picture from last year fair that they put up. Chipmunk and I won the Agility over all. It's goint to be am exciting year!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to make an understanding of this "topic" that some of my family members brought up to me this past weekend on a nice road trip. We were talking about my racing and next year's season. Here is what was brought up.
~next years plans ~funding ~how to improve my race standing First thing is first. My next year's plans for racing. I can't say much on this topic because I take things as it goes but I am going to go big for next season. Next year I am a senior and that means the year after that I head off to college. It means that I will be going big and hitting races up outside of WI. Another thing is, in a previous post I talked about my cousin Katie. Well, her dad and her went to the Wausua race. If all goes and she is not busy on the weekends the races fall on; I plan on having her race in the 3 dog Jr. class. That leaves me with 3 dogs; Pilot, Chipmunk and Cinnamon. I can't really run these 3 dogs in the 4 dog class so I think I will be running in the skijor class. Also, when Katie can't go to the races I am still not sure what I will be doing because Chipmunk is slowing down and can't keep up with the other 3 dogs. I guess we have to wait to see how everything plays out. Funding is a big problem for me and this also leads to the next to my next problem... how to improve my race standings. I know some people won't help with my racing because I don't have good standing or that big of a kennel. But we have to remember this; I am a teenager still in school. Finding a job has been really hard, plus I am in extra curricular activities too. I live in the city; therefore I can only have 2 dogs. I am just looking for small donations, nothing to major. I try my best to save money but there is only so much I can do. Improving my standings seems to be a big problem for a lot of people who may look at my kennel. Let me sum it up for you really quick. I have a limited amount of dogs I can use, and limited training times. The dogs get older every year and therefore get slower. I have to pace my team to go as slow as the slowest dog. If that dog pushes itself to go any faster the next day I may be racing less dogs. I can't own a big kennel just yet, but one thing for sure is if you look at my dry land results that is were I can do the best. Please don't judge unless you know the real reasons. When I first started out my cousins ran the same races as me. I got the left over dogs, dogs that didn't make their teams. Now, I did my best to pick the best from the left over dogs. I even proved them wrong making a dog that they thought would never be a lead dog into a lead dog. I can do this and will keep trying. Thanks for reading my rant, it is nice by the comments left on my other posts to see that people are reading my posts. Thanks!!! On Sunday, Janurary 13th my 4-H group hosted a project day. I brought Chipmunk and Dingo in, and talked about racing and mushing. As you can tell, the people were allowed to pet the dogs and ask questions. Due to lack of snow that day, I wasn't able to take my sled out for demo's. I brought all of my equipment in though, the sled and bike and harnesses and everything. It was successful and everyone loved it. You see this picture? Yes... this is an ice storm that happened in Green Bay today. We ended up having a 2 hour delay for school, and it sucked. No one really shoveled because it was snow on slush, and no one wants to get wet from shoveling. I man a snowman in the morning, let the dogs out but even they hated it. It was to icey out for this? Can anyone say Bizaare weather? I know I can... it's suppose to be spring! |
