This past weekend, my cousins and I entered in a dog fun match to practice with our dogs for our 4-H clubs. Four of the six sled dogs were entered, Cinnamon, Rocket, Chipmunk and Dingo. My cousin that showed Cinnamon entered in 2 classes; Obedience and Agility. She did not place but overall we seen improvement in the dog and her. My other cousin that owns Rocket showed him. She entered him in 5 classes; Pre-Novice on leash trainer with experience with dog having no experience, Agility, Costume Class, Mixed Breed Male Conformation, and Showmanship. In these 5 classes she placed in 4. Pre-novice was 2nd place, Costume class everyone took a blue but her costume theme was Peter Pan and Wendy. You can figure out who was who... it was very creative. Conformation was a 2nd out of 3, and showmanship was a 4th out of like 10. I was very pround of her and Rocket.
Now, on to Chipmunk and Dingo. With Chipmunk, Dingo and I all together we entered 6 classes. Dingo had 2 classes for the day and Chipmunk was 4. Dingo was entered in Pre-Novice on leash, and Mixed Breed female conformation. She took 2nd out of 2 in conformation and didn't place in pre-novice. For Chipmunk, she was entered in Youth Novice, Agility, Rally, and Showmanship. She didn't place in Youth Novice and we didn't compete in the rally because it was another 1 1/2 hrs until we would of went and that was to long for them to wait. In Agility she took 3rd place out of 8 and in Showmanship her and I took 3rd out of 3. Overall, the day was very excellent and I plan on adding pictures once we get them uploaded to the computer. I am proud of all the sled dogs, and hope each one

Just a post about stray dogs after my encounter with one today. Please, do not let your dog wander around. Now, I understand if that is the way you have it in the country but if you live in the city try to have your dog(s) contained. Lets see here, today I encountered a pit bull. Now, I have encounter other types of strays before but this was the first time I was scared of a stray dog. This dog came at me so I stayed still with out moving. Then, this dog just barked and barked and barked. When it was distracted for a bit I would move forward but then when it noticed I was moving it would try to charge me again, and then start barking. I ended up being okay and the dog is still out there, but what I am staying is make sure you know where is dog is at all times. If your dog is missing, try to find it right away. Here are some tips for you and your dog(s).....
~Keep your dog in a fenced in yard ~tether your dog if you can't have a fence ~teach your dog to stay by the house in case it ever does get loose ~Have some type of contact information on your dog so if someone else finds the dog they can let you know |
